Why do the wipers creak?

There is no single answer to the question of why wipers emit an unpleasant (sometimes even unbearable) squeak. There can be many reasons. Consider the main ones in order.
-
The main reason for the terrible squeak in most cases (more than 80%) is not at all in the wipers themselves, but in at what angle the leashes (they are also called levers) - those things to which the wipers attached, are located relative to the windshield. The ideal angle is a right angle, that is, 90 degrees. Over a long time of operation of the car, the leashes bend and become slightly (and sometimes very even significantly) curved, deviating from the right angle. Most often, the problem is visible to the naked eye. If you see that the wipers are tilted to one side, contact a good service station and do not rest until you find a master who can adjust the angle of inclination (or rather, its absence) of the leash (and, accordingly, the wiper) to the windshield.
-
The second reason, most often, is in the wipers themselves. If you changed rubber, and not the whole wiper - it may well be the reason. If you changed the wipers more than a year ago, it may also be that the wipers are worn out and, although they already cope with cleaning the glass, they cannot work quietly.
-
The third reason could be in the windshield itself. If it is decently worn out / long ago or never changed, and the car is more than 3 years old, the chances are low, but still it may be the glass.
- Fourth. This is also a windshield, but the reason is not in wear, but in pollution. If the car has not been washed for a long time and / or is contaminated with substances that impair the quality of contact of the cleaning rubber with glass (wax, compounds like "anti-rain") - in addition to increasing wipers wear, this can cause an unpleasant sound.
